Vantage Design's founder began cross-border trading with China very early on in the 70's.
They first-hand experienced the rippling effects of the country's borders opening up to foreign investment and trade during Deng Xiaoping's reforms. Factories back then were located in very rural areas, hours away from any city centers. Traveling on unpaved roads to visit these far-reaching factories and dealing with cultural barriers was the everyday norm.

The forthcoming boom of rapid economic development heralded in a new age. Towering skyscrapers, supersized malls, impressive infrastructure - China's fast growth was nothing short of astonishing. It was clear that China had become the new frontier of opportunity.

"It was an era of rapid development. Dehong's business was booming, and orders geometrically doubled every year. Shu Shu implemented a large number of orders and worked tirelessly to and from Huangyuan in Jiangsu Porvince."

Mr. Zhang Bing Guo, long-time factory partner of Vantage Designs, reminisces the early days of export trading and his factory Dehong in those days.
"It was a backwards era, the factory conditions were poor, lack of materials, no parts. Yesterday you could have been a farmer, and today you became a worker. Technology could not be guaranteed, situations are endless, and problems just come one after another. After the reunification of Germany, Dehong received an order for 380,000 windmills. One can only imagine the arduous task to take such a big risk and heavy burden. Generally, it takes no more than five months from order reception to delivery and production. If the quality does not reach standards, the products can't be shipped [to customers] and holiday sales will be delayed. Ms. Shu continued to work day and night to meet the difficulties and create miracles to achieve success."

The company began as a family business and steadily grew. Though China had opened its doors to foreign trade, our clients recognized and needed our invaluable expertise as import traders and identified us as key business partners. Today, Vantage Designs, Inc. is a minority & woman-owned family business with sales representatives based in the United States, a merchandising team in Taipei, and a showroom in Hong Kong.
